This section discusses ACUCOBOL-GT's compatibility with the non-ANSI features of HP e3000 COBOL that affect the File Control Paragraph of the Environment Division.
RANDOM and DYNAMIC keywords
In HP e3000 COBOL compatibility mode, the keyword RANDOM means the same as the keyword DYNAMIC (RANDOM loses its default ACUCOBOL-GT meaning). For example, either
ACCESS IS RANDOM
or
ACCESS IS DYNAMIC
can be used to specify DYNAMIC access to a file. See section 4.3.1 "File Control Paragraph" in Book 3, Reference Manual, for usage syntax and general rules for the keyword DYNAMIC.
